Rehabilitation and Settlement

Due to the nature of this crisis, it should be noted that when the crisis eventually is resolved, it will take some significant amount of time and resources for the people of Southern Cameroons to be resettled on their lands and in their homes especially as so many villages have been burnt and sources of livelihood destroyed as well as labor force. It is the wish of CRRI that when that time comes, it will be able to assist these displaced people to find their feet, not just infrastructure wise but also economically and psychologically.
In the meantime, however, there is an urgent need to have those refugees who still don’t have any viable placement in the settlements to find such. It is also important that the labor force in these refugee camps be put to productive use so as to help the people psychologically, economically and socially. CRRI has identified ways by which it can immediately assist these refugees to help them settle as best as they can at the moment.
This will be by,
- Help provide Job placement opportunities by partnering with institutions in the host countries and communities.
- Organize Coaching and empowerment sessions by using skilled displaced persons and other people outsourced globally
- Help provide Counseling services by working with organizations like the UNHCR, churches, NGOs, and individuals with necessary background.
- Initiate a pay forward scheme where beneficiaries undertake to assist other refugees.
- On a long term basis, housing and settlement assistance for returning refugees.
